The Building

The design of The East Manchester Academy is very inviting, highly impressive, innovative and environmentally progressive. The Academy will be considered as one of the most noticeable and prestigious landmarks in east Manchester. It is a design in which pupils will feel safe, secure and very special. Good architecture is essential to the academy’s philosophy, as it can make a real difference to the quality of school life and can transform learning experiences.

We are certain that you will find the spaces inside and outside the academy truly inspiring. It has large, clear spaces in which pupils can think, dream and work; the glass surrounds will let pupils have natural light to support their learning and emotional well being.

A secure and open plaza will provide a warm, welcoming space defining the entrance to the academy. The grounds behind are equally impressive with extensive sporting facilities. We plan to involve pupils in designing a Habitat Zone and an Eco-science pond, surrounded by a wildflower meadow, bordered by an oasis of trees, plants, shrubs, grasses and flowers. The outside areas will give pupils the chance to learn in a different type of environment; pupils will be sure to value and respect all that surrounds them.
