The East Manchester Academy in Partnership with Business

The ‘built environment’ specialism links into the overall regeneration for east Manchester and to one of the City’s main growth areas which will provide jobs and opportunities to future generations.

Links with business will provide young people in The East Manchester Academy with an insight into the many careers available to them and equip them for these jobs or their chosen future.

Pupils can expect to gain access to specialist resources provided by the links to business. They will also be able to take advantage of real work experience, along with volunteering and mentoring opportunities, while sponsors will supply ‘live’ lessons, workshops and seminars about real world projects.

Businesses will work alongside teachers to design teaching, learning and assessment materials that bring those aspects of the curriculum related to the built environment to life, providing technical and industry advice as appropriate. Staff will gain access to professional development and management training.
